Celebrate your achievements
Came across a very interesting blog about entrepreneurs not recognising their own successes enough. The title caught my attention – You Are Not Richard Branson – but the message was a very good one.It spoke of entrepreneurs undervaluing their own achievements, and feeling like they are failing. It also commented on different businesspersons needing different role models. I have had many role models throughout my life, and still discover new ones every day.I completely agree that taki

Higgs boson to COSMOS
Incredible news about the discovery of the Higgs boson from the Cern scientists at the Large Hadron Collider. This really could prove to be an historic milestone for the world. Many people who would not profess an interest in science per se are being drawn in by these exciting new developments, from the Higgs boson to the creation of the first commercial spaceline, Virgin Galactic. There is plenty of fun to be had in the scientific world. Somebody who always keeps this in mind is Virgin Galactic

This sporting life
What a fantastic few days of sport it has been. Aside from our own kitesurfing adventures (did we mention those world records?!), Virgin Money put on the UK’s biggest cycling festival in Newcastle. The first Virgin Money Cyclone was an incredible event that went down a storm despite the terrible weather in the North East.Huge well done to everyone involved, especially Sarah Storey for winning the Curlew Cup (best of luck for London 2012!) and Russ Downing for winning his second Beaumont Tr

The Elders show we can all make a difference

President Carter, Arch and former President Mary Robinson spoke profoundly to a rapt audience on all manner of subjects.Arch encouraged everyone to “go on dreaming, go on being idealistic”, and reminded us that we “belong in one family. One race – the human race”. President Carter shared his views, noting “the future of the world depends on the young people retaining

A taste of kitesurfing
Though a lot warmer, here is a taste of what yesterday was like for those who enjoy kitesurfing.
This was filmed in the warm seas of the Caribbean rather than the English Channel!

Five wonderful years of The Elders
Five years ago today Nelson Mandela started The Elders to help resolve conflicts around the globe and to be the world’s moral authority and conscience. Together they have worked to tackle some of the world's most intractable problems, helping to promote peace in Sudan, Cyprus, Israel, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, North Korea, Kenya and many other places.Tonight we celebrate five wonderful years with some of The Elders, including Archbishop Tutu, President Carter and Mary Robinson. At Wimbledon
Normally I wouldn’t be seen dead in a tie, but I'm going to have to make an exception since being invited to the Royal Box at Wimbledon today.
I am taking my mum, who loves tennis and still plays. This is my once a year compromise!
