To San Francisco for first OceanElders meeting

Tonight I fly to San Francisco for the first meeting of the OceanElders. I’m going armed with all the comments from all the tweeters and bloggers over the last few months. I’d just like to say thanks very much for those. If anyone has any last minute suggestions on what the OceanElders should be doing to save the oceans then please tweet in and I’ll be able to get them into the meeting. Everybody who has followed us over the last year and sent in their ideas on how to save th…

First times

Back when we started Virgin, we came up with the name because we were all virgins at business. It was our first time and Virgin has been about first times ever since. With that in mind, Virgin is holding a social marathon on November 16th - a global, group-wide celebration of the power of social media. This is the first time all of the Virgin companies around the world have come together on one day to take part in a global social event.  I’m kicking off the 26-hour mar…

In Holland - students and Superbus

In Holland, looking forward to seeing as many students as possible and sharing ideas with you. For those who couldn't make it in person it is going to be broadcast too. Earlier today we had a fascinating meeting with many of our Dutch future Virgin Galactic astronauts. Also travelling on the Superbus, a battery-powered Dutch batmobile started by Holland’s first astronaut Wubbo Ockels. It could one day take on the train business by driving people at 250mph - but also dropping them off at…

In Dominica

In Dominica, not be be muddled with Dominican Republic. Wonderful to find a country so unspoilt. It is just as Christopher Columbus must have first seen it. 70 per cent of the country is still covered in magnificent rainforest. There are 365 rivers on the island (one for every day of the year) and many beautiful waterfalls. Dominica is an island in the Caribbean, very remote and difficult to get to, so doesn't get that many tourists.  But for adventurous types it is a brilliant place to…

Love is in the air!

Love is in the air on Necker Island! One of our team on Necker Island sent this note updating us on the lemurs' love life so thought I'd share it here. "As mentioned the other day, we've had rather a lot of fighting amongst the lemurs and as suspected it's due to one of the females becoming sexually receptive. "After observations through the night last night and this morning I've now seen two males, Maurice (the fat one who was originally bullied!) and Frank (who lost his finger t…

Virgin Atlantic salt & pepper set is a steal

Have you ever stolen Virgin Atlantic's iconic salt and pepper pots? Pinch them while you can! We have had Wilbur & Orville, our 'highly collectable' salt and pepper pots, on board upper class Virgin Atlantic flights for over 12 years, but they may soon be replaced. When we first started Virgin Atlantic it was because we wanted to put the fun back into flying, and the salt and pepper pots are one of the little things that make a big difference. They became so popular that lots of lig…
