Babies growing up fast

The baby lemurs on Necker Island are growing up very quickly indeed. Here you can see the babies of two different lemur species, which were very recently still clinging to their mothers' backs. They are full of character and all have very distinct personalities. Looking forward to watching them grow up and of course sharing more wonderful photos with you all.…

The next generation of women in space

We’re delighted to welcome Virgin Galactic’s 600th future astronaut, Marsha Waters. I had the pleasure of meeting Marsha at The B Team launch in London last week and can’t wait for her to experience space travel for herself. Marsha, who owns an accounting company in Blackpool, told me she has been watching our progress closely for the past few years, and was inspired to join our space program after watching Virgin Galactic’s first supersonic test flight recently. …

Rally Against Cancer

Enjoyed a great day with the family at Queen’s Club yesterday, and even got to play tennis on the hallowed turf of Centre Court! My mum, wife and children loved watching Andy Murray, who won a thrilling final against Marin Čilić, before playing a fun match with Tim Henman against his coach Ivan Lendl and Tmas Berdych. Then the serious fun began, as we played a doubles (later triples!) match to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Andy, Jimmy Carr, Jonathan Ross and Boris …

The London Eye

It seems the London Eye and I will never see eye to eye!To announce Virgin Active becoming the first Health and Racquets Club in the UK to open its tennis clubs for free, Laura Robson and I wanted to play a tennis match on the London Eye.Sadly, when we arrived there was a mechanical fault, so I have still never set foot on the Eye. We still managed to enjoy a fun game in the sunshine on the Southbank, and encourage people to give tennis a try for free. The last time we were at the London …

Never Mind The Pollocks

One of the first sustainable fish and chip shops has been opened by a friend of mine, Andy Moore. The Fish & Chip Shop in London source from Marine Stewardship Council-approved fisheries and other fisheries that are best practice and the most sustainable. Do people know of any other great sustainable fish restaurants? Would you be more likely to eat at a restaurant if you knew the produce was sustainable? Of course, if Virgin ever opened a sustainable fish and chips shop, it would have to b…

Time to Try Tennis

We love tennis, so I was amazed to learn only eight per cent of Brits can play the game. We're on a mission to change that with Try Tennis, as Virgin Active become the first Health and Racquets Club in the UK to open its tennis clubs for free.Today I joined British number one Laura Robson in London to announce free tennis at 20 Virgin Active clubs, for 21 days. We will run three classes per club each day, starting on the first day of Wimbledon. Hopefully we will introduce people to tennis…

If you aren't innovating, you are going backwards

Spent the past few days in London thinking about business and innovation. The two words are not used in the same sentence enough - unless the words "needs more" are put between them.  Innovation is the lifeblood of successful businesses. If you aren't innovating, you are going backwards. We launched The B Team yesterday, a global non-profit incubated by Virgin Unite that wants to deliver a new way of doing business that prioritises people and the planet alongside profit. The B Team l…
