World's Biggest Spin Class at Virgin Active Australia

Battling an early morning start (at least in Australia!), over 200 members at Virgin Active Australia got on their bikes and cycled their way into the Guinness book of record books. In conjunction with our clubs in UK, Italy, South Africa, Spain and Portugal we set out to break the "World's Biggest Spin Class" record.
And the best bit is we raised about $10,000 for the Oasis Youth Support Network while we were at it. Congratulations to ALL our members and staff involved. At Pitt St we were lucky enough to have a webcam link with our Virgin Active Italy and Virgin Active UK brothers and sisters, as we all pedalled together. We are hoping for up to 7,000 cyclists worldwide.
In order to meet the world record criteria we had to all cycle for 15mins continuously and all at the same time. Like ourselves the other territories would have carried on pedalling for a further 30-45mins to make a full length class. If you did basic stats on calories burnt = 7000*550(conservative calories burnt in 45mins cycle class) = 3,850,000.
Of course this is an estimate but a pretty big number and it really drives home our global size!
Well done everyone. A true Virgin Active effort.
