Virgin Money South Africa Walked the talk
- Aug 25, 2011
Sunday morning 24 July 2011 saw masses of blue dots that were Discovery 702 Walk the Talk participants along the various routes in Johannesburg's leafy suburbs surrounding Marks Parks. Among the fellow 50 000 plus walkers Virgin Money made a dent in red in the 5km race!
We slowly egged our way to the start line in Judith street to kick off the walk at 11.30, met with merry loud messages from 702 radio presenters commenting on people passing by - you couldn't help but be swept away by the fun and laughter, which is exactly why Virgin Money decided to bring members of staff and partners along. It was a glorious winter's day and being outdoors was a great bonus! The primary purpose was to enjoy the day and share the camaraderie with co-workers and other walkers. The event was a great occasion for Joburg. Despite parking and water scarcity, the event was very well organised considering that it is one of the largest community engagement activities in the southern hemisphere.
This is the first year that Virgin Money has taken part in the event and the staff members thoroughly enjoyed it and we aim to be back next year. It is great to experience such enthusiasm especially since we are also supporting a worthy cause - the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation which uses sport to bring about positive social change.
