We are very happy to welcome Jigar Shah as the new CEO of the Carbon War Room. Jigar most recently was the Founder of Sun Edison, which he grew to be the largest solar energy provider in the US.

The Carbon War Room is a unique initiative started by Richard and Virgin Unite to harness the energy, influence, and resources of some of the world's top entrepreneurs to help revolutionise the carbon economy. It will work with partners to identify, communicate and mobilise resources for some of the most critical battles in the fight on climate change.

At a recent meeting in New York, the initial group of Founders joined Richard and Jigar to help bring on board other entrepreneurs and to listen to a group of experts present potential areas of focus for the Carbon War Room. Thanks to Richard and all the other supporters who have worked so hard with Virgin Unite to get this off the ground.

Also, since almost any hydrocarbon fuel can be manipulated in solar processing refineries, airlines could continue using their same fuel types. What would change is that instead of the carbon being mined, the carbon portion of these fuels would be extracted from the atmosphere.

Solar processing to produce hydrocarbon fuels from the atmosphere provides a net-zero hydrocarbon fuel. Vast amounts of fuel storage results in lowering atmospheric carbon. http://jamesbdunn.multiply.com/journal/item/324/Storing_Hydrogen_for_High_Density_Power_Applications Use solar energy to extract hydrogen and oxygen from water, and extract carbon from the atmosphere. Process these components to produce methane. Liquify the methane (propane). The infrastructure already exists to use propane. The energy density of propane is higher and cheaper than most forms of hydrogen storage. This provides a economic infrastructure for creating and selling fuel, while reducing atmospheric carbon. Dirty combustion of propane causes the release of solid carbon, which plants can absorb through their roots. We have these technologies, they need to be married together as an industry.
