Virgin Media Charity Day

Last Thursday (July 5th) saw the second annual Virgin Media Charity Day. A fun filled day of camaraderie, team bonding and selfless giving – from tug of war battles, to cake bake offs, amazing fancy dress right through to the Senior Execs serving tea to all.

I myself was lucky enough to be given the opportunity of taking part at one of tens of VM offices involved and helped run the Keepy Uppy and Hula Hoop stall at Hook. The best score there was 74 – the overall winner made 340!

Events started from 10am although the ‘Charity Champs’ (the unsung heroes who made it happen at each site) themselves started their day much earlier from 7am, dedicated and determined to making the day a success.

With a full fun-packed schedule of day events for all staff, tens of thousands of pounds were raised for 60+ well deserving local and national charities and their wonderful causes. Our colleagues across the world also got stuck in for good causes.

In true Virgin spirit, Virgin Media CEO Neil Berkett produced countless smoothies for staff on his smoothie blender bike and, less than 10 metres away, Senior Execs (including Red, our Chief Values Officer) were taking a sponge for the team, getting stuck in head first into the festivities!

It was an all round wonderful display of the Virgin spirit. Thanks to everyone who donated and got involved in Virgin Media's Charity Day.
