Virgin Holidays is giving customers a new opportunity to give something back to the communities they visit on holiday. We recently became the first mainstream tour operator to sell volunteering holidays, in partnership with Intrepid Travel. More than a holiday, travellers will have the opportunity to spend 14 days living and working with communities in remote villages in Kenya, Uganda, Vietnam, Thailand or Peru.
The volunteering holidays are the latest in a broad array of Virgin Holidays initiatives that benefit the community and environment; working with Oxfam in the Caribbean to empower local farmers to supply hotels with locally grown fruit and vegetables; promoting sustainable seafood in restaurants with The Marine Stewardship Council and auditing hotel suppliers worldwide for social and environmental sustainability.
