Pride ‘n Purpose nominated for Imvelo Award!

Pride ‘n Purpose, based in South Africa, a joint initiative between Virgin Unite and Virgin Limited Edition, has been selected as a finalist for the Imvelo Awards for their work in the local community.

Imvelo, running for the eleventh year, awards tourism businesses that demonstrate sustained responsible practice in their operations in terms of their natural, social and economic environments.

Working on a non-profit basis, Pride 'n Purpose is Ulusaba's charitable arm committed to helping disadvantaged communities living adjacent to the Sabi Sand Reserve.

Their main focus is on sustainable development initiatives and improving access to food, water and health services.

Imvelo  – which means ‘nature’ in South Africa’s Nguni languages  - encourages industry members to accept voluntary guidelines promoting responsible tourism. The awards are in line with the National Minimum Standard for Responsible Tourism and the UN World Tourism Organisation’s code of ethics, and are supported by the Heritage Environmental Rating Programme.

The winner of the award will be announced on 31st of October at an awards ceremony in Johannesburg.
