Park it! - with Virgin Trains
- May 15, 2009
Passengers often drive to the station, so Virgin Trains are improving parking facilities for their customers. A total of 17 low-energy car parks will be introduced by the end of 2011. 'The multi-storey car parks will be part-powered by wind turbines, and we will be fitting photoelectric cell lighting that switches on when it gets dark and turns off when it is light,' says Mike Bones, car parks project manager for Virgin Trains.
Plus, there will be plenty of room to park your bike securely (see below for more on bikes). Stations where parking is about to become greener and easier include Birmingham, Preston, Runcorn, Rugby and Oxenholme Lake District.
Improved parking facilities are also on the way for Wolverhampton, Coventry, Lancaster and Carlisle.
