Virgin Unite CEO Jean Oelwang discussed how leaders can be a positive force in the world in the opening speech at this year’s Department For Education National College conference.
Jean’s goal, and the aim of Virgin Unite, is to make business a force for good in the world. Trista Smith from education.gov.uk spoke to Jean before her talk to find out more about what this means.
The article discusses how new leaders are emerging in the business sector and how we can celebrate these new leaders.
Jean focused upon Virgin Unite's main goals, which are: working with business to become a force for good; looking at gaps in global leadership and putting people together to close those gaps; working with – and within – a global community.
They also spoke about The Elders – an initiative of global leaders including the likes of Nelson Mandela, Kofi Annan, Jimmy Carter and Ela Bhatt. Their aim is to help resolve conflict around the world, to look at major global issues and try to help solve them.
