GreenRoad rolled out at UK bus company
- Oct 13, 2010
GreenRoad, one of the companies in which Virgin Green Fund has invested, has recently rolled out its fuel efficiency and driver safety service across a major bus network in the UK.
East Yorkshire Motor Services (EYMS) started using GreenRoad’s service along with driver training at one of its bus depots in September 2009.
As a result, it has seen an 11% fuel saving year-on-year and a 50% reduction in own-fault accidents during the first half of 2010.
The plan is to complete the deployment of the GreenRoad system at all nine EYMS depots by the end of the 2010.
“We started evaluating GreenRoad’s service as a way to reduce our fuel consumption and to try and achieve fuel saving targets set by the government,” said Dave Heptinstall, chief engineer at EYMS. “We quickly appreciated that GreenRoad’s service offered further benefits for us and our customers including reduced collisions and improved passenger comfort.”
GreenRoad 360 provides drivers and fleet managers with real-time feedback and coaching on driving abilities and patterns.
It positively impacts both conscious and subconscious driving behaviour, the key to creating more fuel-efficient and safer drivers.
Virgin Green Fund is a leading, independent private equity firm investing growth capital in the renewable energy and resource efficiency sectors in North America and Europe. GreenRoad is just one of several companies that it invests in.
