Virgin Unite ambassador Cory Monteith has been named the Do Something TV Star of the year, in recognition of his work for both Unite and the Re*Generate Movement.
DoSomething.org has been the premiere national award for community service in America since 1996, honoring those people who have been working hard to make a difference in the lives of others. This year Do Something teamed up with VH1, making for their biggest celebration yet of globally-minded people.
Monteith’s dedication to his role as Virgin Unite ambassador has seen him this year embark on a number of projects, both on and individual basis and with Richard Branson. Monteith was able to fend off competition from the likes of Ian Somerhalder, Don Cheadle, Neil Patrick Harris and Ryan Seacrest, who were all themselves nominated following selfless contribtuions to their chosen charities.
The young actor was clearly happy with his award, taking to Twitter to tell fans: “I won a do something award!! thank you so much for voting!!!!!!! :) :).”
