Virgin Unite The Elders fifth birthday competition terms and conditions
Here are the terms and conditions for Virgin Unite's The Elders fifth birthday competition:
a) All entries must be received by 11.59pm GMT on Thursday 28 June 2012.
b) All entrants must be permanent UK residents aged 18 years and over.
c) All entrants must be available to attend the Intelligence Squared Elders event at the Barbican, London on 2nd July 2012 at 7pm (the “Event”)
d) The prize consists of 1 x pair of tickets to the Intelligence Squared Elders event at the Barbican, London on 2nd July at 7pm (the “Prize”).
e) To be eligible to win the Competition, you must:
a. Answer ‘What three qualities do you think a member of the Elders should have?’
b. Submit your answer via Twitter using the #EldersComp
(an “Entry”).
f) The winning Entry will be the Entry judged by a Virgin Unite panel to be the most creative/deserving person to answer to the question. If there is more than one Entry with the same answer, the Winner will be drawn randomly from all valid Entries with the same answer.
g) The Winner will be announced no later than the 5pm on Friday 29th June 2012. The Winner will be notified via their Twitter profile as soon as possible after the Winner has been chosen. The Winner must accept the Prize by replying to the notification on their Twitter profile within twelve hours of being notified as the Winner. If Virgin Unite does not receive a response within twelve hours of when Virgin Unite first tries to contact the relevant Winner, Virgin Unite reserves the right to award the Prize to another entrant and the original Winner will have no right to insist on receiving the Prize. Thereafter the alternative entrant shall be the “Winner” for the purposes of these Terms. Virgin Unite’s decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
h) Only one Entry per person will be accepted. All additional Entries will be discounted.
i) The Winner is responsible for all personal expenses and any ancillary costs incurred by the Winner in enjoyment of the Prize including their own transport and accommodation (if needed) to and from the event
j) The Winner will be allowed to bring one additional guest with them to the Event.
k) The Winner agrees to take part in all reasonable competition-related publicity (such as interviews and photography) surrounding the winning of the Prize), and they consent to Virgin Unite using their name and image in promotional material as requested by Virgin Unite.
l) Entries may be rejected or disqualified from the Competition at the sole discretion of Virgin Unite for reasons including but not limited to breach of these Terms, obscenity, defamation, an invasion of privacy or other objectionable content. Any person found to be submitting unsolicited bulk messages (i.e. spam) will be disqualified from the Competition.
m) If you do not correctly submit your Entry in accordance with these Terms, you will not be eligible to win the Prize. Virgin Unite takes no responsibility for any Entries that are lost, delayed, corrupted, damaged, incomplete or otherwise invalid. Virgin Unite will not be responsible for any technical fault or failure which prevents a person from entering the Competition.
n) Virgin Unite can, in its absolute discretion, disqualify any entrant for breach of or non-compliance with these Terms, vary or amend these Terms, change the Prize or terminate this Competition without prior notice. You agree that no liability shall attach to Virgin Unite or any other Virgin Group company as a result thereof and that, in such circumstances, no compensation will be payable.
o) The Prize and each element comprising the Prize are not transferable or exchangeable. The Prize has no cash value and cannot be taken as cash or for any other item or benefit. The Prize must be used on the dates specified by Virgin Unite. If for any reason the Winner does not make use of the Prize including if the Prize is not claimed or redeemed, they shall not be entitled to any alternative prize. In each case, no refund or compensation will be provided.
p) If the Prize (or any part of it) is unavailable, Virgin Unite, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the Prize (or any part of the Prize) with a prize or prizes (as appropriate) to an equal value and/or specification. For the avoidance of doubt, this is a right for Virgin Unite and not an obligation on Virgin Unite to provide a replacement.
q) The Winner shall accept and use the Prize at their own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Virgin Unite and all other Virgin Group companies assume no responsibility whatsoever for death or personal injury or any damage, loss, or disappointment (in each case whether direct or indirect) suffered by any entrant or by the Winner (or any companion/s) as a result of accepting and undertaking any Prize (including, for the avoidance of doubt, any personal injury or death suffered to any participant).
r) Final responsibility for determining the operation and results of the Competition including eligibility and the ultimate Winner, and all decisions relating to the Prize rests solely with Virgin Unite. Virgin Unite’s decision shall be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into concerning any of these matters.
s) No Virgin Group company shall be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations caused by (but not limited to) weather conditions, fire, flood, strike, hurricane, industrial dispute, war, terrorist activity, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, loss of connectivity, Internet or email failure or any other circumstances beyond the control of that Virgin Group company.
t) Your personal information will be used by Virgin Unite in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 for the purposes of the Competition. Your personal information (including your name, email address and telephone number) collected during the Competition and/or for the purposes of the Prizes will only be shared with other Virgin Group companies or third parties with your consent or in order to contact you regarding the Prizes or the Competition, which purposes may include transmitting your information outside of the EEA. Your information will not be used for any purpose other than as stated in these Terms or unless separately accepted by you. By submitting an Entry Form, you consent to the use of your personal information in accordance with these Terms.
u) The promoter is the Virgin Foundation (a registered charity trading as Virgin Unite) whose registered address is The School House, 50 Brook Green, London W6 7RR.
v) These terms and conditions are subject to the laws of England and any dispute arising out of or in connection with this Competition shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
