New Virgin Media headquarters creates 200 apprenticeships

Virgin Media are set to create around 200 apprenticeships, with the opening of a new Midlands headquarters in Birmingham. Thefacility was opened bylocal MP, John Hemming, and Team GB gymnast Kristian Thomas (both pictured above with Mark Steele, Head of Field Service Operations Centre on the left).

The site will house a Virgin Media Apprentice Training Centre, with the companys apprenticeship scheme offering placements for trainee field technicians, planners and network engineers across the UK.

By creating these new jobs, we hope to give young people an important opportunity to get themselves on to the employment ladder, explained Maurice Daw, executive director of access at Virgin Media, to the Birmingham Post.

We are very proud of our apprentice programme and have had huge success to date and with the digital media industry growing at such a rapid rate, we hope these new jobs will positively contribute to the region and wider UK economy.

The Eagle Court site, which will be based in Sheldon, will be home to over 1,000 Virgin Media employees who currently work across the Midlands.
