Virgin Money has offered employees the opportunity to give their favourite charity a boost through a series of donations.
As part of the takeover of Northern Rock members of staff were encouraged to submit suggestions, describing in no more than 100 words, why a good cause close to their heart would be deserving of a cash injection of 2,500.
One of the first charities to benefit from the donations was MS Research and Relief Fund, based in Northumberland. The charity provides a range of services for those affected by multiple sclerosis, aiming to allow sufferers to exercise in a safe environment whilst easing tensions such as pain and fatigue.
The donation coincides with the start of an appeal by the charity to raise money for a hydrotherapy pool. Were over the moon to receive this grant from Virgin Money, its a fantastic start for the appeal, explained Marketing Officer Sue Dowson.
A hydrotherapy pool would make a big difference to people who experience severe problems because of their MS. Some of them can completely lose the use of their legs, but in the pool they can take part in fitness and relaxation exercises.
The charity cash injections are part of a series of innovative ideas by Virgin Money, which have already seen a series of pioneering Money Lounges open across the country.
Since the takeover was confirmed at the start of the year Virgin Money has pledged to create a bank that is honest, fair and transparent.
