Camp Bestival lineup announced
- Feb 09, 2009
Festivals in the UK are mostly associated with rubbish tents, ropey burgers and the rain. While a brolly can keep your head dry during a couple of sets, it can't stop the field you're sleeping in turning in to a mud-bath.
The main Bestival festival that is hosted on the Isle of Wight never got to see a ray of sunshine over its three day course last year. Headliners My Bloody Valentine, Amy Winehouse and Underworld had to battle against the elements while completing their sets.
As a kind of warm up for the main festival, this year's Camp Bestival bash takes place between July 24th-26th at Lulworth Castle. Camp Bestival intends to make the event memorable for all who attend. Instead of a straight forward festival with multiple stages, there are hundreds of attractions to loose yourself in. With comedy tents, activities for parents and children to do, the festival caters for everyone and not the average music festival goer.
A variety of acts have been announced so everyone will be kept happy, regardless of their musical preference. Fancy some experimental DJ'ing that blows everyone else out the water? Then DJ Yoda is at hand to provide old hip-hop tunes alongside the themetune from Sesame Street. Roots Manuva is also set to take to the stage to demonstrate why he is one of the best UK rappers with rhymes that cover multiple subjects with a dose of British humour thrown in.
PJ Havey is also stopping by for an exclusive solo show. If live gigs weren't rare enough, then a special solo gig is going to be worth the ticket money alone! Other artists who are set to appear include Mercury Rev, Candi Staton, The Cuban Brothers, Andy C, The Scratch Perverts and a UK festival comedy experience by Frankie Boyle.
Prices start from £45 for a day ticket to a weekend adult ticket. For more information on other price structures, visit the Camp Bestival website.
