Usher live at iTunes Festival

Don’t get me wrong, I’m the first to admit my guilty love of old fashioned R&B – but to say I was a little sceptical on route to Camden (of all places R&B) to catch Usher live in concert, would be an understatement.

It’s never an easy feat starring as the opening act - for any occasion, let alone the month long iTunes Festival - which is set to see a plethora of acts performing free exclusive concerts at Camden’s Roundhouse venue.

iTunes ticket winners, Olympic athletes, Chipmunk, Natalie Imbruglia and Jessie J all gathered to spend their Saturday night (when Dr Who AND X Factor returned to screens) to to see Usher Terry Raymond IV pop his collar.

Supported by rising star Miguel, the venue filled at a steady pace, as the mood was set for an evening of R&B goodness.

Lasers, smoke and dancers filled the stage in preparation for Usher’s arrival – which was a flurry full of greatest hits including ‘You Remind Me’, ‘Burn’ and ‘Yeah’.

Even aged 33, Usher worked up a sweat showing off his seductive dance moves, ripping his shirt off and strutting The Eagle dance move during ‘Let It Burn’ whilst flames lit the stage screens behind.

The up-beat hour and a half long set certainly didn’t disappoint Usher fans either, nor sceptics such as myself. Although the live band and dancers did some-what contribute to the liveliness of the set, Usher more than proved his worth and seemingly, eternal youth.

You can watch all of the iTunes shows live, or view them afterwards for a limited time via iTunes, or iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. For more information visit www.itunesfestival.com
