Lady Gaga Born This Way review

So Lady Gaga was Born This Way? Sounds like she must have popped out just as someone was playing Madonna's Express Yourself on the ghetto blaster in the hospital delivery room... or maybe it was in a laboratory where a secret sect of Simon Cowell style impresiaros genetically engineer perfect commercially viable pop stars - they should get to work on some more, they might actually save the record industry.

How our favourite bonkers diva can take an old floor-filling formula and somehow make it sound fresh and exciting is all part of her beguiling genius. I guess that's what the best artists do and there's no denying the fact that Lady Gaga's unstoppable trajectory now has her at full-on 'artist' (in the proper old sense) status.

It's the whole carefully manicured package (including Black Swan style prosthetics on the artwork) that will sell this pumping dose of disco - perfectly timed to be unleashed at the arse end of winter when we're all desperate for the ignition that properly sets the 2011 party alight.

So thank the heavens above (or secret sect scientists) for Lady Gaga that she was born (or concocted on a petri dish) this way - she heralds the sunshiney spring with definitely the best single of the year so far (sorry Jessie J, but Gaga's still got it).
