Advent Artists - CocknBullKid

CocknBullKid, fresh from playing her first headline show in London for nearly two years, becomes the latest Advent Artist on Virgin.com.

She chooses her five favourite albums of 2010, as well as her most loved singles of the year, and explains why she's picked each one.

As if that wasn't enough, she reveals her highlight of the year and a not-at-all cliched Christmas wish. Read on, festive fans and music lovers...

Top 5 Albums of 2010

5. Sade - Soldier of Love
Sade can really do no wrong in my eyes. She's probably one of my favourite artists. It might have taken 10 years but I'm glad she didn't commit the mortal sin of trying to work with all the trendy producers and sounding like she was trying to jump on any bandwagon. It sounds like Sade in 2010 and it sounds brilliant.

4. Beach House - Teen Dream
Beautiful melodies, lots of reverb and lush vocals. There isn't really a bad song on this album.

3. Sleigh Bells - Treats
This album took me right back to London in 2005.  I was playing the M.I.A, Peaches, Testicicles and LCD Soundsystem albums to death. This sort of captures the energy of that exciting time. There's a brilliant mix of loud guitars, chopped beats and pop melodies too.

2. Yeasayer - Odd Blood
They take the best parts of the 80s and bring them straight into the now without sounding cliched. I'm a big Peter Gabriel fan and I think you can hear that these guys are too.

1. Robyn - Body Talk 1
I loved loved loved Konichiwa Bitches. This album felt like a natural progression from there. It's loads darker. Lots of lyrics about solitary dancing, it's an album for lone wolves who like to dance too.

5. I Need Air - Magnetic Man
I often play this out at my DJ sets, always goes down well. Dubstep meets pop. Popstep?

4. We Want War - These New Puritans
Love this band. They're quite dancehall inspired. This is visceral, loud and 7 mins long!

3. MY KZ, UR BF - Everything Everything
They're bringing harmonies back in earnest. Very schizophrenic but brilliant.

2. Don't Go There - Giggs feat B.O.B
Love the video, the production, the hook- everything.

1. Telephone - Lady Gaga feat Beyonce
When I first heard this I wasn't convinced but after a couple of plays, I was converted. Great video too.

Favourite moment of the year...
I've had loads of highlights this year. Finishing my album, touring again, ..It's hard to pinpoint just the one

And finally, a Christmas wish...
World peace obviously.

CocknBullKid is set to release her new album next year, and recently released the single 'One Eye Closed'.
