Fleet Foxes reissue debut LP
- Jan 26, 2009
Arguably the debut album from Seattle's Fleet Foxes was the most acclaimed album of 2008. With it's beautiful, warm tone reminiscent of Crosby, Stills and Nash and The Beach Boys, Fleet Foxes' self-titled debut album graced most of the 'best of 2008' lists.
With the new found success both sides of the pond, the album has just been re-released with extra tracks originally available on the Sun Giant EP, including new single Mykonos, as well as their cover version of Steeleye Span's False Knight On The Road.
In the past few days, false news of Fleet Foxes signing to Virgin Records were being discussed on various sites. Sara Brickner, a writer for The Seattle Weekly, had simply mis-interpreted a post found on this here little old site and had come to the wrong conclusion that the band had signed to Virgin Records. She has since very graciously apologised.
From here, the news found it's way to Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold at a gig he was attending back in the States. Where after he wrote a blog entry on the band's MySpace page stating that 'Fleet Foxes will never, ever, under no circumstance, from now until the world chokes on gas fumes, sign to a major label.' The story was then picked up by major music site Pitchfork.
music.virgin.com was only trying to be nice and let the good people know that the Fleet Foxes' album was being re-issued!
Fleet Foxes are signed to Sup Pop and Bella Union - FACT!
Hope that clears that one up...
