The wax and wane of hip hop culture has given us periods of recycled lyrics, poor production and lack luster concepts. For the last two years I’ve purposely leveled my kitchen table with Peter Shepard’s mini book on the history of rap to show my distain of the diminishing art form [no offense Peter, it's all Def Jam's fault].
While fishing for new tunes today I discovered a glimmer of hope for hip hop head holders around the world. 21 year old rapper, Tinie Tempah bursts onto the scene with a lesson in UK Grime called, “Pass Out”. Although this track may take a watered down remix with Diddy screaming on it to break stateside, we can still appreciate it in its intended form…at least for now.
