10 artists to watch at V Festival 2011
- Aug 17, 2011
Are you ready for V Festival 2011? Rihanna, Eminem and Arctic Monkeys are getting ready to thrill at V Festival in Chelmsford and Stafford this coming weekend. Here are the top 10 artists to watch at V Festival...
10. Eminem
The man with more aliases than a JJ Abrams fanatic brings his angry man rap to V Festival for the first time. It's easy to forget how many hits Eminem has - and how you remember every single word to every one of them.
9. Primal Scream
Playing the still fantastic 'Screamadelica' in full, then adding on all of their other big hits at the end makes for a dream Primal Scream set. How Bobby Gillespie is still able to put so much energy into his performance is a sight to behold. And dance like it's V Festival 1991 to.
8. The Script
Some say they are cheesy, syrupy schmaltz. They very well may be right. Butt The Script know how to work a V Festival crowd, and for those so inclined, these Irish heartthrobs will bring a tear to the eye.
7. Tinie Tempah
Since we found out he brings the stars out, women and the cars and the cards out, Tinie Tempah has showcased several other strings to his multi-talented bow. He oozes star power, is far better live than on record, and knows a killer hook better than any other pop star of the moment.
6. Fun Lovin' Criminals
Who knows how many other chances you'll get to see Huey round up the gang for some Fun Lovin' Criminals capers? 'Scooby Snacks' is not to be missed at V Festival, while you can hope for some inter-band banter like that on show in the video above.
5. Example
He might profess to still be an "ordinary geezer' but Example is a hit-making machine. His V Festival set should see him propelled into the festival big league - make sure you're there to witness it.
4. Chase and Status
A double header of Chase & Status and Pendulum at V Festival is on offer for any bassheads out there. Chase & Status edge out their rivals due to appearing a little bit nicer, and let us into their studio...
3. Plan B
From rap also-ran to soul superstar, Plan B's regeneration was as impressive as anything Doctor Who has managed lately. The masses will be out at V Festival to falsetto along to the likes of 'She Said'.
2. Arctic Monkeys
Riding high after the release of another storming album, Arctic Monkeys now have the back catalogue to headline major festivals without breaking their stride. Jump around to the debut album smashes, but keep an ear open for some hidden new beauties from Alex Turner and co too.
1. Rihanna
She may be playing below Eminem on the bill but Rihanna is who everyone can't wait to see - even Arctic Monkeys were gutted they are not on the same day as her at V Festival. Will she duet with Eminem? Who cares when she can call upon hit after hit after hit, from 'Rude Boy' to 'Umbrella' to 'What's My Name'.
Go to V Festival for all the latest news.
