Richard Branson on the business of banking

"Banking is a serious business," says Richard Branson in a new interview on the Virgin Group's move into banking with Virgin Money.

Virgin Money recently entered the world of banking and completed its acquisition of Northern Rock.

Speaking to My Virgin Money Magazine, Richard Branson explained why banking is "a huge responsibility" and that Virgin Money are "in it for the long haul".

The Virgin Founder commented: "Our entrance into the world of banking reminds me of the excitement of the early days of Virgin Atlantic more than 27 years ago. It’s another massive milestone in the history of the Virgin Group and one where we can make a real difference to the market.

"Banking is a serious business. At the end of the day, you’re dealing with people’s money, day in, day out, looking after their savings, lending them money for mortgages, handling their salary and more. So it’s crucial to get the basics right."
