Virgin Money are set to sponsor the UK’s biggest cycling festival, the Cyclone, following on from previous sponsors Northern Rock.
The event has a proud history of raising money for charity, with over £500,000 collected throughout the course of previous Cyclone events. Virgin Money Giving will offer their expertise, in the role of official not-for-profit sponsor of the website, in the hope of boosting this figure.
"Now that Virgin Money and Northern Rock are united as one business, I am delighted to support this fantastic event. Virgin Money is committed to supporting the communities we serve,” explained Paul Lloyd, Marketing Director at Virgin Money.
“This event is an excellent showcase for what the North East has to offer and I am proud to have the Virgin Money brand associated with it.”

The first Virgin Money Cyclone will be held between June 28th and July 1st 2012 and will feature; a Thursday evening ride for families and those less experienced, the Leazes Criteriums on Friday, the Virgin Money Cyclone Challenge itself on Saturday and on the Sunday a new addition of the Curlew Cup – the first ever all ladies race held in the North East.
