As the seasons change it’s important not to get caught out, with this in mind Virgin Money have provided five simple steps to get yourself ready for the freeze.
Over the past year inflation and energy bills have steadily risen, making it more important than ever before to prepare now and save money later.
Virgin Money have cited five key areas which need to be considered when readying a home and a family for a harsh winter, these being; the home, the garden, the car, the pets and not least of all yourself.
“Maintenance ensures any minor problems are spotted early and nipped in the bud before they develop into expensive major ones. So before the temperature drops, get your boiler and other appliances serviced by a qualified engineer from the Gas Safe-register,” explained Virgin Money.
“Your central heating should never be switched off, but remain on low to prevent burst pipes. The extra few pounds in energy are more than worth it in preventing water damage.”
To find out more about preparing your house for winter, along with the other four key areas, head over to My Virgin Money Magazine.
If all this talk of cold winters has depressed you, fear not. If you’ve got any good tips for winter yourself then send them in and you could walk away with £100, as Virgin Money hands out prizes for letters of the month.
