Welcome to Innovation Nation!

What are the UK's most innovative organisations? Virgin Media Business and The Guardian have launched Innovation Nation, an initiative to uncover the UK’s most innovative organisations and CIO’s from across the public and private sector.

The competition is a chance for entrants to showcase their most groundbreaking projects in customer service, unique working practices, frontline government services and collaboration. Innovation Nation is open to enterprises of 100+ employees or more and public sector organisations, as well as CIOs from both sectors.

Innovation Nation judges include Richard Noble, Project director for a global education initiative focused around a 1000mph land speed record attempt, the founder of one of the most successful London based start-up incubators, Araceli Camargo and Brian Durrant, the CEO spearheading a revolution in the way education is delivered across the capital.

Mark Heraghty, managing director, Virgin Media Business, said: “In many ways, the UK has been built on innovation – we’ve been at the forefront of putting technology to great use for generations, and this country’s pioneers have achieved things that have shaped the modern world.

"I’m really excited to announce the launch of Innovation Nation, in partnership with The Guardian, and actually showcase and celebrate some of the great work that has been taking place in both the public and private sector. Being selected either for the shortlist or indeed as one of the six winners of Innovation Nation, is recognition of true excellence and should make any organisation proud of its achievements.”

Innovation Nation entries are being managed by The Guardian. Winners will receive an award and the opportunity to be showcased on the Innovation Nation microsite for the rest of 2012. All shortlisted entries will also be invited to a celebration event at the end of May, and have a unique opportunity to be involved in panel discussions with all the judges, and network with other key figures from across industry.

The closing date for the Innovation Nation awards is April 30th. Head over to The Guardian to enter and find out more.
