Virgin Media creates 620 new jobs

Virgin Media has announced plans to increase its workforce by creating 620 new jobs, with the growing demand for next generation services such as TiVo and superfast broadband fuelling the recruitment drive.

The new employees will be based in Manchester, Swansea and various other locations across the country, with 500 of the positions being customer service based.

"The new jobs that we’ve announced will ensure we’re meeting the increasing demand for our next generation digital products and will help our customers get the kind of service they expect from a Virgin company,” explained Paul Buttery, Chief Customer & Networks Officer.

"This investment will benefit a number of communities across the country and we’re particularly proud that we’re able to provide so many young people with a much needed start in these challenging economic times."

As well as the customer service roles Virgin Media are looking to train up 120 new engineers as part of its apprenticeship scheme, allowing the recruits to earn a living whilst receiving valuable training.

Once qualified, the apprentices will be responsible for installing and maintaining Virgin Media’s superfast broadband, phone and digital TV services.
