Underground WiFi count passes the 100 mark

Virgin Media has added 11 new London Underground stations to its WiFi network, bringing the total number of stops hooked up to 103.

The new stations include; Gloucester Road, Tooting Bec, Highbury & Islington, Tooting Broadway, Kentish Town, Hampstead, Great Portland Street, Redbridge, Hammersmith (District & Piccadilly), Blackhorse Road and South Wimbledon.

This week saw the service become pay as-you-go for some users, however those on EE, T-Mobile, Orange and Vodafone will still benefit from the service free of charge – as will existing Virgin Media customers.

Originally introduced for last summer’s Olympic Games, the network has steadily grown over the past six months with plans to push it live at a total of 120 stations by the end of March 2013.
