Virgin's social marathon

Virgin staff from across the globe came together last week to help bring the Crimson Bandit to justice, following the theft of Richard Branson’s diary. Companies from the United Kingdom, the United States, South Africa and Australia joined forces for a 24 hour social media marathon, with clues from the diary being released each hour on a different Virgin company Facebook page.

Using the specially designed app followers in each territory were able to win hourly prizes and ultimately a grand prize, with the Crimson Bandit eventually being revealed to be the Virgin Group founder himself. Many lessons were learnt throughout the day, not least to never take your eye off Richard Branson!

In Virgin’s London HQ Virgin Media, Virgin Trains, Virgin Balloon Flights, Virgin Wines, Virgin Experience Days, Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Digital Help, Virgin Holidays, Virgin Active, Virgin Money and Virgin Unite spent the day beavering away on their laptops, showing the great team spirit experienced throughout the Virgin Group.

An amazing selection of prize giveaways saw followers win flights, holidays, signed Richard Branson goodies and a whole host of other treats.

The social marathon was Virgin's third, after a successful first outing in 2011. Since then the concept has rapidly grown, involving more Virgin companies and customers each time - here's to round four!

A special thank you goes to everyone who played along with us, the thousands of you who figured out the puzzles and answered the questions made the whole day worthwhile - we couldn't have done it without you.

Keep your eyes peeled for the next Virgin social marathon, we may need your help once again!
