Richard Branson has confirmed that Virgin Hotels are on the hunt for properties in New York, with the Virgin Group thought to be close to launching its four star hotel brand.
“Our Virgin Hotels team is exploring a variety of options and applications in New York City,” explained the Virgin Group Founder.
“We love the energy of big market areas like Times Square but we equally love distinct neighborhoods with real communities - SoHo and the Meatpacking District, for example - where Virgin would be a perfect fit.”
Virgin Hotels are also thought to be looking to operate in Washington, DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas and London.
The hotels, which will be neighbourhood-centric, are likely to draw inspiration from the range of destinations served by the Virgin airlines. With Branson confirming: “Our airlines’ destinations are all perfect for Virgin Hotels and where my team is looking for sites and partners. We are very lucky in that our airlines enjoy incredible loyalty.”
