Virgin Holidays has marked the official launch of Virgin Atlantic’s London to Cancun service by pledging to increase tourism to the region, targeting to get over 30,000 customers to Cancun by 2015.
“We see no reason why, without the right level of airline capacity, Cancun can't grow in to a really significant destination for us. Our customers are already showing that the demand exists for it, the hotel product is extremely impressive, we have the distribution and supplier network in place and our good friends at the regional and national tourist boards here are incredibly proactive partners,” explained Amanda Wills, Managing Director of Virgin Holidays.
"We’re on target to achieve the figure we set for year one and will be working hard to ensure that upward trend is continued through to 2015 with the ultimate goal of almost tripling that number during those three years. There is a huge amount to offer the UK traveller in Cancun and in our opinion the Riviera Maya is ripe for some Rockstar Service.”
Since the first dedicated Virgin Holidays Mexico brochure launched in 2011, nearly 8,000 holidays to the region have been purchased. With positive sales for 2013 seeing a 913% increase year on year.
