After 22 gruelling days in the saddle Andrew Flintoff, Lawrence Dallaglio and the rest of the Virgin Media Cycle Slam team have finally completed their charity cycle. Starting off in Athens the riders took on a challenging route through Europe, with a staggering 2,872km being covered throughout the course of the journey.
The pair crossed the finish line, at the gateway to London’s Olympic Park, with wide smiles and a sense of great achievement. “It’s been so hard. You wake up every day and switch your head off and turn your legs on. Yesterday, we cycled on cobbles and there are parts of my body hurting I never knew I had. It’s been a long struggle, but worthwhile to go through half of the suffering the people we’re raising money for go through every day,” explained Flintoff.
