Novak Djokovic: any Richard Branson fans out there?

After safely navigating his way through to the third round of the Australian Open yesterday, world number one Novak Djokovic paid tribute to his pre-tournament preparation on Necker Island.

When asked by interviewer Jim Courier what it was like to play with amateurs, the tennis ace was quick to assure him it wasn’t quite so easy at the Necker Cup: “I don’t consider John McEnroe to be an amateur, we also had the likes of Tommy Haas – it was a Pro Am tournament. We had a lot of fun there.”

The Serbian also had a few words to say on the tournament host Richard Branson, who apparently is a favourite of the Australian crowd. To read more about the Necker Cup, click onto the Virgin Group Founder’s blog, where he has some amusing images of the week to share.
