Death Cab For Cutie's new Twilight highlight

By Greg Rose

What could be better than a new Death Cab For Cutie single? How about a new Death Cab For Cutie song from fangtastic new flick Twilight: New Moon?

The film phenomenon is winging its way into cinemas and indie stalwarts Death Cab are marking the occasion by releasing Meet Me On the Equinox today (October 12th).

A new video has been filmed to partner the track, which features Bella floundering through a fountain and Edward in typical broody form.

Nick Harmer, bassist in the band, explained: “This song marks the first attempt that Death Cab for Cutie has ever made at contributing new, unreleased material for a film.

“We wrote Meet Me On the Equinox to reflect the celestial themes and motifs that run throughout the Twilight series, and we wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters.”

This is the first single from Twilight: New Moon’s soundtrack, which also features tracks from artists such as Thom Yorke, Muse, The Killers, Bon Iver and Editors.

Twilight: New Moon will be in UK cinemas from November 20th, while the movie’s original motion picture soundtrack will be available from October 19th.
