Lawrence Dallaglio and the rest of the Virgin Media Cycle Slam team have said goodbye to Stage 3 of their epic journey through Europe, as they begin to take on the Swiss Alps in the fourth instalment of their cycle.
The third stage proved to be the toughest yet, with Sam Branson explaining the pain of the final day: “Wow that was the toughest day cycling of my life! Exhausting and sore but great team spirit and we helped each other along! 130km and 2,496m done. Legs are seizing but a well-deserved few beers tonight and rest day tomorrow!”
Although it seems as though Stage 4 is proving to be no easier for the riders, with Andrew Flintoff taking to Twitter to describe his troubles: “I can not begin to describe how sore my no mans land is at this time! Never did I think I would climb for 105km in one day #lovethealps.”
“Going to trowel on 10 tubs of sudacrem tonight! I cannot find words to describe the pain. Cricket was never this sore!”

Stage 4 is scheduled to come to a close on May 13th, after the team have finished their four day quest across Switzerland into France. The riders will briefly enter Germany as they cross the Rhine, as part of the 4,829, climb and 483km overall cycle.
