Introducing Nathan Rosenberg
- Sep 19, 2008
I'm going to be honest. I know this site is about the new book from Richard Branson, but I haven't read it yet. I've seen photos of the cover and I've read the overview as provided in the Virgin Books catalogue. However we are a little behind the UK and it doesn't go on sale until October 10. So getting one in Canada hasn't yet been possible, which I think is a fair and reasonable excuse.
Once I get one, I will read it of course. For so many reasons including it surely is required reading for all Virgin peeps. Secondly my dad told me that you should never stop reading regardless of how busy things are, because when you stop reading you stop exploring and you stop learning. Sage advice, but easier said than done when you always seem to be at work and the most interesting reading you get to do is the next email you get on your Blackberry. However when I do get the chance I find it a perfect antidote to stop the madness momentarily, and maybe, just maybe as Dad said, it's the chance to learn something new.
I have read recently though. The last two books I read were in the last 6 weeks. Firstly Tom Peter's 'ReIMAGINE' and secondly Barack Obama's 'Dreams from My Father. I'm a little late compared to many others when it comes to reading these two books but I didn't let that stop me. However these two books doubled my total of books read this year. Sad but true. So maybe 2008 won't be one of my greatest years of continuous learning, but it's not over just yet.
So as I said I promise to read it as soon as I can and I'll give you my view on what I get from it. I promise this book won't become the next copy of the copy of the 'Time Travellers Wife' that has been sitting on my bedside table for 14 months acting as a coaster and a paperweight. Thank God it is being made into a movie so at least I will feel like it was worth the $20. By the way Happy Birthday Mum. Best I put this in given I mentioned Dad above.
