Smile and the world smiles with you. But does smiling give you an edge in business? According to Richard Branson, the answer is yes.
The Virgin Founder has explained how smiling is not just a nice thing to do, but a method of gaining a competitive advantage from any situation.
He told Entrepreneur.com that being known as "the smiley man with the beard" has been a positive in his career, and explained the ways in which instilling a culture of smiling staff can encourage brand loyalty.
"When an entrepreneur creates a culture of openness at a new company, it can make a big difference to employees’ and customers’ enthusiasm," said Branson.
"This is especially true in environments where stiff upper lips and reserve are common."
Are you doing business with a smile? Or do you think grinning could make you appear unprofessional? Head over to Entrepreneur.com to read the whole of Richard Branson's blog.
Let us know your thoughts, and perhaps tweet us a photo of your own Monday smiles. After all, as Branson says, "a smile won’t cost you anything, and the returns to your business will start right away".
