Virgin Media Pioneers are calling on the UK Government to introduce a Youth Investment Fund to make loans available to young entrepreneurs on the same terms as student loans.
This forms part of the Control Shift campaign, and Prime Minister David Cameron thinks it is "a brilliant idea". What do you think?
With UK unemployment rising by 118,000 in the three months to November to 2.685 million and youth unemployment is at its highest since 1992, Virgin Media Pioneers are calling for more help for young entrepreneurs.
Several Virgin Media Pioneers have made the case for supporting the Youth Investment Fund, and are calling for more people to write to their MPs and vote in the Virgin Media Pioneers poll.
Read the Control Shift report for more on how the Youth Investment Fund could make a difference to UK entrepreneurs.
Sir Richard Branson, commented: "The UK is full of talented, ambitious young people, but there are many obstacles to unlocking their entrepreneurial potential. Large enterprises and Government can and must do more to help these young entrepreneurs.
"Through the Virgin Media Pioneers Control Shift campaign we are able to amplify a voice that is central to our economic prospects but often not heard: the young entrepreneur."
Zoe Jackson, Virgin Media Pioneer and founder of Living the Dream Performing Arts Company, added: "Starting a business at a young age can be a daunting prospect and its important that support mechanisms are put in place to give young people the best chance of success.
"It has been great to be involved with the Virgin Media Pioneers Control Shift campaign and to contribute my thoughts on what should be done to encourage more young people to become entrepreneurs."
