Virgin Megastore has been a high street icon everywhere from Times Square in New York to Sydney, Australia since Richard Branson opened the first music store on Oxford Street in London in 1976.

Here’s where you can buy CDs, DVDs, games, books, apparel and electronics from Virgin music and entertainment stores around the world right now:

Virgin Megastores are currently open in France, Greece, Australia and the Middle East and Gulf countries.

However, times they are a-changin’, and sad but true - Virgin Megastores are no longer open in the UK, Ireland, Spain, US, Canada and Japan, while the Virgin Megastores in Australia are currently run by Sanity Entertainment.

I am supportive of Virgin (notably what Virgin blue has done in Australia) and Richard Branson (his books and let's do it philosophy) but was disappointed today to visit Virgin's Champs Elysees Megastore - the service was terrible and the staff seemed unhappy especially to be dealing with customers, not what I knowfrom Virgin blue and can't imagine Richard would be pleased, I certainly wasn't
